Loneliness and Isolation Counselling

Loneliness is one of the hardest things to say out loud, and one of the most common things I hear.

Signs you might recognize

  • Feeling unseen even when you are surrounded by people
  • Declining invitations and then feeling worse for it
  • No one who knows the full picture of your life
  • Friendships that faded after a move, a separation, or a loss
  • Shame about admitting any of this

Naming it without shame

Many people apologize before they say the word lonely, as though it were an admission of failure. It is not. It is information about a gap between the connection you have and the connection you need, and that gap is workable. In the room, I treat it as a straightforward fact of your life rather than a verdict on your worth, and that alone changes how people talk about it.

My approach to this work

We look at what happened to your connections, what you actually want them to look like, and what gets in the way, which is often anxiety, past hurt, or a belief that you are a burden. Then we work in small, real steps rather than sweeping social goals.

What to expect in sessions

Sixty minute sessions, in person or online. For some people the counselling relationship is the first place in years they have been fully honest, and that is a legitimate starting point.

Getting started

What to expect

  1. 01

    A free 15 minute consultation

A short call to hear what is going on, answer your questions, and see whether we are a good fit. No pressure either way.

  2. 02

    Your first session

Sixty minutes to lay out the situation in your own words. We get clear on what matters most and what you want to be different.

  3. 03

    Ongoing work at your pace

We settle into a rhythm that suits you, weekly or spaced out, in person on the Sunshine Coast or by secure video anywhere in BC.

If any of this sounds like where you are right now, the next step is a free 15 minute consultation. No pressure, no commitment, just a conversation.
